UK retail sales decline 0.8% m/m in September, a big miss

   •  UK retail sales declined 0.8% m/m in September.
   •  Core sales also fell by 0.8% m/m in September.

The UK retail sales declined 0.8% month over month in September, worse than a fall of 0.4% anticipate and an upwardly revised 0.4% growth recorded in the previous month. Meanwhile, core retail sales, which excludes the auto motor fuel, also declined by 0.8% m/m during the reported period. 

On an annualized basis, the UK retail sales rose by 3.0% in September, versus 3.6% expected and 3.4% previous, while the core retail sales growth also slowed to 3.2% y/y rate as compared to 3.6% previous and 3.7% anticipated.
