EUR/USD supported above 1.1130

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The shared currency extends its side trend versus the US dollar in early European trades, keeping EUR/USD supported above 1.11 barrier. The main currency pair paused its downslide and consolidates heavy losses witnessed following Greece default on late Tuesday night.

EUR/USD keeps range around 1.1140

The EUR/USD pair trades flat at 1.1140, absolutely lifeless but clings to 1.1100 levels. The major trades in a 10-pips extremely tight range as traders digest last night’s news that Greece has missed a crucial debt repayment of €1.6 billion to IMF.

Moreover, markets now await Sunday referendum in Athens while the latest poll suggest 57% of Greek voters would have voted 'no' before bank closure.

Meanwhile, markets now await fresh incentives from the upcoming flurry of final manufacturing PMI readings across the euro area economies while employment data from the US will also be closely eyed.

EUR/USD Technical Levels

The pair has an immediate resistance at 1.1194 (June 2 High) levels, above which gains could be extended to 1.1221 (June 25 High) levels. On the flip side, support is seen at 1.1111 (June 30 Low) below which it could extend losses to 1.1080 (June 8 Low) levels.

Target an even weaker NZD/USD in Q3 – Deutsche Bank

Robin Winkler, Strategist at Deutsche Bank, maintains a bearish NZD/USD target at 0.65 by the end of Q3, and further expects RBNZ to ease further into July.
