UK hourly earnings leap 2.7% year-on-year in three months to April

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The data released by the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Wednesday showed the average hourly earnings, including bonus rose 2.7% year-on-year in three months to April, beating the estimate of a 2.1% rise.

The average hourly earnings excluding bonus also increased 2.7%, beating the estimate of a 2.5% rise. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate remained at 5.5%, its lowest since 2008.

Unemployment based on International Labor Organization methods fell 43,000 to 1.81 million in the three months through April. A narrower measure of unemployment showed claims for jobless benefits fell 6,500 in May from April.
